It’s officially August in Denver. And if the weather is any indication, the summer isn’t slowing down. Events are in full swing and if you have a trip planned out here soon – it’s worth taking a look at what’s happening in the Mile High City.

August 1 -15
The once regular city street has been transformed into a pop-up park. Pop-up because it’s only here from June 15 – August 15. Park because while it’s not grass and trees, it’s definitely a park of sorts; a dog park, food trucks, a bike trail, games, lawn chairs and seating are among some of the things to do. While the daily food vendors change, the events planned are fairly consistent; from a silent disco bi-weekly to movie nights to live performances, this “park” is something worth checking out while in town and maybe even going to an event.
The Square on 21st is located on 21st Street between Larimer and Lawrence streets. Find more information and check out the special events calendar here.
August 1 – 22nd
This isn’t your typical summer movie nights in the park. The Sunset Cinema series is located at Sculpture Park – right outside the Denver Arts Complex. These films focus on dance and are about only dance. Sunset Cinema celebrates dance in film with dance lessons, performances, live local music and a screening of an iconic dance film. And it’s all for free. There will also be themed craft cocktails, some creative bites, live music and dancing and after the sun sets, the movie starts.
Tuesdays, Aug. 1 – 22 6 – 10 p.m. Galleria at the Denver Performing Arts Complex
Aug. 1 – Saturday Night Fever
Aug. 8 – Footloose
Aug. 15 – Moulin Rouge!
Aug. 22 – Step Up
August 2 – 30
Now this is your typical summer night movies. But instead of a park, it’s a turf lawn of a bar – and it’s for ladies only. Watch all the classic chick flicks under the stars on a 200” outdoor LED TV in the courtyard. This is a perfect outing when you’re in town for your bachelorette weekend. Enjoy free popcorn during the movie and free drinks from 9pm-midnight.
